Vision
At LEAD Academy we firmly believe that every one of our students has the potential to graduate from high school, attend a four-year college, and embrace a “Whatever it Takes” attitude toward making this a reality. Therefore, it is our vision that 100% of LEAD Academy students will graduate from high school and be accepted to a four-year college or university.
Over time, LEAD Academy’s students, staff, and families will transform educational expectations, creating a national model for excellence in urban education and neighborhood redevelopment.
Mission
LEAD Academy exists to educate, support, and train the next generation of responsible citizens. Our doors are open to all students who desire a rigorous academic and personal development program that will prepare them to graduate from college, enter the workforce with the necessary skills to follow their desired professional pursuits and the values of good citizenship and community service necessary to positively impact their community as productive, responsible citizens.
While at LEAD, students engage their community through service and investigation. They are encouraged to learn from each other and the community in a challenging yet supportive environment that develops the Core Habits of Leaders:
These habits are introduced on day one, developed through the middle school years, and refined at the high school level so that upon graduation students will be:
- Self-reliant and responsible;
- Life-long learners committed to continuing their education in college and beyond;
- Fluent in technology and ready to compete in today’s global marketplace;
- Proven leaders of character in their communities, able to address complex and serious issues capably and passionately.
Our confidence in our ability to achieve our mission comes from our commitment to our LEAD Academy Core Values:
Mission-Driven: From the President of the Board to the instructors to every parent/guardian, every member of the LEAD Academy team believes in and understands the importance of the mission. This shared sense of mission maintains a strong culture of achievement and excellence throughout the organization.
Student-Centered: Everyone in the organization is connected to and focused on the students; building positive relationships is a core value of the organization and instructors and staff are expected to form close relationships with students inside and outside the classroom.
Supportive: Achievement comes from high expectations coupled with support to reach those goals. The LEAD Academy program includes systems to support students and instructors as they work to achieve our ambitious goals.
Collaborative: Research shows that a triumvirate of support—from the family, the school, and the community—is necessary to engage children in the educational process. As such, LEAD Academy has already engaged many community partners in the educational process to bridge these gaps so that our students have the support needed to complete their journey to a successful career and life.
Focused on New Opportunities: LEAD Academy exists to create opportunities for our students that would not otherwise exist. Additionally, the organization seeks to create new opportunities for motivated and high-achieving educators to assume greater organizational responsibility.
Committed to Constant Learning: Members of the LEAD Academy organization at all levels embrace the idea of constant improvement and continual refinement of our educational approach. Leaders and instructors are encouraged and expected to innovate, create, seek out new ideas, and share best practices with their peers.
Focused on Results: LEAD Academy and its staff track student growth closely. Curricular and instructional methods are responsive to measurable student outcomes. All members of the LEAD Academy team, both management and instructional staff, receive clear performance measures, and are highly accountable for their results. |
